25 Books and Movies that will change your life!

I love most things that involve stories, especially when they are inspirational.  I found a fabulous list of books and movies to inspire.  While I have read and watched most of them, there are a few that I haven’t.  Guess I now have something to keep me entertained in my down time.

Check it out- 25 Books and Movies that will change your life!.

#BLACKOUTTUESDAY and VOTE today! Let them feel us at the ballot box! ••• We’re still Black and still fighting. Now more than ever we need Black to register, Black to vote, Black to get counted, Black to get educated, Black to run and Black to get elected. Because #WeAreDoneDying! #BMCMovement #EquityNow #Vote #YourVoteMatters
Sometimes people have the right to righteous anger because their soft, calm pleas have been ignored for days, weeks, months, years, decades and centuries. If you’ve been asking for help, the same help, over and over for decades— when would enough be enough? When? #WeAreDoneDying #EnoughisEnough #BlackLivesMatter #EquityNow #BMCMovement
“Lightening makes no sound until it strikes.” — Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. #Repost @ibramxk ・・・ I want to make some things plain. Police violence has historically been the source of the violent rebellions of Black people and their allies. Police violence begets violent resistance. If you want to end the violent resistance, then end the police violence. It is coldblooded to expect any group of people who are being constantly terrorized, brutalized, and killed by police officers to never react in violent rage. It is coldblooded to demonize violent protesters and not the violent source of their rage. It makes me think about the bully who constantly harms the bullied away from cameras. Then after one brutal killing on camera, the bullied strike back violently against the bully. Then the cameras arrive to see the bullied striking the bully. Then the blame strikes the bullied and exonerates the bully. However, let’s not equate violence against property to violence against people. These demonstrators primarily engaged in violence against property. By contrast, officers around the country have been primarily engaged in violence against people. And don't call for non-violent demonstrations if you aren't calling for non-violent police. Then again, when has U.S. policing ever been non-violent? A history of violent and lawless policing has caused people to fear cops and their defense attorneys (i.e. prosecutors). That's why people want to abolish the police. #georgefloyd #breonnataylor #ahmaudarbery #BMCMovement #BlackLivesMatter #WeAreDoneDying #EquityNow
Breaking News: Chauvin has been arrested. The battle is still on, we shall fight until a verdict is rendered. #WeAreDoneDying #BMCMovement #BlackLivesMatter
This work, on top all the other responsibilities we have (and a Pandemic), is hard and exhausting. If we are not performing for you today, or any day, it might just be because we have no more performance in us. #WeAreDoneDying
Happening tomorrow... This is still so hard to process. Rest well King, @domknows!
Happy Mother’s Day to my first teacher and believer, my encourager, my mentor, my advocate, my champion, my cheerleader, my coach, and my friend— my Mom, Pat Barnes. ••• As a member of the Black revolutionary movement, my mother taught me the beauty of Blackness; that we are the blessed people, descendants of Kings and Queens, brilliant and capable, and so much more than can be defined through racist hate-filled limited minds. ••• As a product of North Boulevard Homes and West Tampa, my mother taught me to fight through, fight with, and fight against — struggle. ••• As a honors student in the first desegregated graduating class in Tampa who later went on to attend college, my mother taught me it was my job to gain knowledge and then to use that knowledge to unapologetically advocate for myself and others. ••• As a single parent that was known for confronting you in your classroom, that spoke directly to and even challenged your teachers and principals, that attended every extracurricular activity and after school game as often the loudest parent in the stands, my mother taught me to take up space. ••• Ani ohevet otakh, ima. I love you, mom.
Going live soon...

Happy Monday! As we move into another week of the #coronavirus Pause in NY I am grateful to be alive and to see another month in 2020. While the end may seem uncertain and far in the distance, we can and will get through. #MondayMotivation #coronachronicles
