Today’s Words of Wisdom: Sometimes you need to walk away…

Today’s words of wisdom come by way of an image I came across while doing a little people watching on Facebook.  Facebook/Twitter watching has become one of my favorite past times, generally while I am bored or have a few unoccupied minutes in my day.  Though the days I can feed this habit are few and far between.

The quote/image caused me to think about the old adage “people come into your life for a reason, season, or a lifetime.”  More specifically that we rarely know how to determine a person’s purpose in our life.  And those of us that do tend to fall victim of allowing people, or stay in positions/experiences, beyond the expiration date.   Worst yet, we also allow these same people/experiences to impact our faith, or at the bare minimum- our self-worth.

If you find yourself to be one of these people… Then “sometimes you need to walk away.  Not to make someone else realize how worthy you are.  But for YOU to understand and acknowledge your own self worth.” Image of a quote, sometimes you need to walk away....

Hopefully this message will be as encouraging for you as it has been for me!  If not, then maybe this inspirational post on design I found, on Hoffington Post, will do the trick  for you!

Me, myself and NOLA. The solo and #selfie moments. #Summer18 #myblackisbeautiful
From opening to closing the 2018 National Conference on Race and Ethnicity, @ncoreconference was an amazing experience. I had a phenomenal time connecting and reconnecting with 4000+ kindred souls; just what my spirit needed. To our ancestors who continue to guide and protect us; to the native and first people on who’s borrowed land we walked; to the phenomenal keynote speakers who value our daily struggle but still challenged and pushed us to be better; to all the workshop presenters that invigorated my mind and rinsed my heart of this serious imposter syndrome i’ve been feeling; to the amazing locals who so graciously accepted our tourist spirit but then guided us through the true Nawlins; to the NCORE staff, board and conference committee— I say thank you! I tried to be more present during my time in NOLA, so pics are limited— but if you don’t collect a few then I guess it didn’t happen, right?! 🤷🏽‍♀️😜. This was my first NCORE, but certainly will not be my last! Off to start the conversation... #Educator #accomplice #ProActivist #SApro #NCORE2018
That one time in NOLA on the Swamp Tour 🐊🐊🐊... #GoGators.
Graduation Part 2: the Culture Squad (minus a few). The last few weeks have been so unbelievably bittersweet as so many pieces of my Binghamton heart head off into the world. Thank you to all of our past and present MRC Culture Squad (MRC student managers, interns, volunteers, and graduate assistants) graduates for working hand-in-hand with us to make Bing a bit more fit and lit for The Culture each year! I am so honored to have shared time and space with you on your life’s journey. I am so unbelievably proud of all that you have accomplished and for your steadfast commitment to pushing me and BingU to be better versions of ourselves. I am looking forward to watching from the sidelines, with front row seats, as you achieve success beyond your wildest dreams. Remember always: you are The Culture, you hold the keys, your voice matters, you have the power— #SquadUp (it will never die 🤪🤣)!!! #WeAreBinghamton #Bearcats4Life #GraduateSZN #BlackExcellence #ForTheCulture #myblackisbeautiful

Shout out to @sunny, now known as Dr. Sunny Hostin on the #WakandaForever call out and your five keys. “1. Listen to others... 2. Speak for those that do not have a voice... 3. Seek out those that will amplify your voice... 4. Speak kindly to yourself.... 5. Use your own voice— The hand you hold the longest is your own.”
I’m fine, fine indeed. #QOTD #FaithFilled #Confidence

Happy Sunday. Even if I wasn’t #faithfilled I’d rather see a child/youth read in the schoolhouse than end up behind bars. 🤷🏽‍♀️🙏🏾
